Allegations of punishing students for chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ in school, ABVP creates ruckus in Jhabua


Parents and ABVP workers staged a protest against a private school in Madhya Pradesh’s Jhabua district over allegations that a teacher of the institute punished children for chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’. The parents alleged that the teacher told the children that they were only allowed to say ‘good morning’. ‘Jai Shri Ram’ or ‘Ram Ram’ cannot be said in school. When the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad student organization came to know about the matter, there was an uproar. ABVP workers along with the children surrounded the school and started creating ruckus. He demanded action against the teacher from the school management.

When the local administration came to know about the incident, the officials reached the spot and assured that action would be taken after investigation. It is said that in the childhood school of Khawasa village of Thandla development block of Jhabua district, the parents complained to the principal about the allegations of punishing the students for chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’. The parents alleged that a teacher at the school had instructed the children that they only had to say ‘good morning’.

The teacher is accused of telling the children to say ‘Jai Shri Ram’, ‘Ram-Ram Kaka’, ‘Ram Shyam’ outside the school premises. All students will have to say good morning and good evening inside the school premises. The school children told this to their families, after which the family members got angry. The parents reached the school and complained to the principal. Meanwhile, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad workers came to know about the incident.

After this, ABVP workers reached the school and created a ruckus. ABVP workers demanded action from the school administration and said that the school management cannot impose such a rule. This is an attack on our culture. This will not be tolerated. Regarding this matter, Block Education Officer Deepesh Solanki said that he came to know about this incident from the media. Necessary action will be taken after investigation.
