Bhopal Central region power distribution companies have made appropriate arrangements to provide temporary connections to the pandals built for Navratri, Durga Utsav, Dussehra, Garba Utsav and other cultural activities. Energy Minister Shri Pradyuman Singh Tomar has appealed to religious festival committees and electricity consumers to provide electricity to religious pandals and tableaus during Navratri only by taking temporary online connections as per the rules.
Energy Minister Shri Tomar has said that due to unauthorized use of electricity, there is a possibility of transformer burning and electrical accident due to overloading. Besides, there is a possibility of darkness due to adverse impact on the transmission and distribution system. Under the Electricity Act 2003, for unauthorized use of electricity for lighting and decoration of pandals without taking a temporary electricity connection from the electricity company, legal action will be taken against the user and the electrical contractor from whom the work has been done, as well as unauthorized use of electricity. In case of misuse, action can also be taken to cancel the license of the concerned electrical contractor.
What to do to get a temporary connection
Apply online for temporary connection by visiting the portal of the electricity company in the prescribed form indicating the correct connected electricity load. Attach the test report of the licensed electrical contractor to the application and get the wiring etc. done by a licensed electrical contractor only. Be sure to obtain a receipt for temporary connection from the electricity company by depositing the amount of security fund and estimated electricity consumption online as per the electricity load as shown in the application. A laminated copy of the receipt must be displayed in front of the pandal/tableau. Do not use electrical appliances that exceed the applied electrical load. The electricity connection will be metered and the electricity bill will be billed at the domestic rate applicable for temporary connection as per rules. It is mandatory to follow safety rules in construction of tableaux and electrical decoration. Do not use electricity in an unauthorized manner.
