Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI gets a new boss, know who is General Asim Malik, got a powerful position

Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI has got a new chief. Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik has been appointed DG of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Services Public Relations (ISPR) has given this information. Asim Malik is currently working as Adjutant General at Army Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, now he has been made DG of ISI. Muhammad Asim Malik will take charge as ISI chief on September 30.

According to Aaj News report, Asim Malik will replace Lieutenant General Nadeem Anjum. Nadeem has been serving as DG ISI since 2021 and was given a one-year extension in 2023. There is talk of Anjum being made Pakistan’s ambassador to Washington DC. Lieutenant General Malik has previously commanded an infantry division in Balochistan and an infantry brigade in Waziristan and has received many awards for his work. Talking about Malik’s education, he has studied at Fort Leavenworth in the US and the Royal College of Defense Studies in London.
Malik has made a name for himself for his illustrious career

Malik has had a distinguished career in the Pakistan Army. He has previously commanded army brigades in Balochistan and Waziristan, both of which have been challenging areas for the Pakistani government. Known for his academic and leadership abilities, Lt Gen Asim was awarded the prestigious Sword of Honour during his military training.

Asim Malik has also served as chief instructor at the National Defense University (NDU) and trainer at the Command and Staff College in Quetta. Asim Malik’s appointment comes at a crucial time for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, when the country is grappling with many issues. The ISI has a lot of influence in Pakistan and the agency has been playing an important role domestically and internationally.
