The School Education Department will provide free bicycles to 4 lakh 50 thousand students of government schools under the Free Bicycle Supply Scheme this year 2024-25. In this regard, the department has given necessary instructions to the District Education Officers.
Under the scheme, free bicycles are provided to eligible students on their first admission in class 6 and 9 for study convenience. Last year, free bicycles were provided to 4 lakh 7 thousand students under the scheme. The scheme will also benefit those girl students whose hostel and government school are at a distance of 2 km or more. Departmental officials have been asked to pay special attention to the quality of the bicycles.
