President Smt. Draupadi Murmu called for encouraging daughters to become educated and self-reliant. Daughters will play an important role in developing the country. She said that Devi Ahilyabai Holkar is a great example of women empowerment and self-reliance. Devi Ahilyabai Holkar has set many standards in efficient administration, justice and welfare work.

President Smt. Murmu was addressing the 14th convocation on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya in Indore today. At the ceremony, President Smt. Murmu distributed gold and silver medals and degrees to students and researchers.

President Mrs. Murmu said that Indore has achieved extraordinary success in the field of cleanliness in the country. Congratulations to the people of Indore for this. She said that this city is known by the name of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar. The university in Indore is also established in the name of Devi Ahilyabai. This is a proud moment for us, when we are celebrating the 300th birth anniversary of Devi Ahilyabai. Lok Mata Ahilyabai understood the importance of education. Her father also got her educated at a time when it was very difficult to educate girls. People of the society were against education at that time. The life of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar is a great example of women empowerment. In her life and rule, she made new and successful efforts to make women strong and self-reliant. Along with this, she took decisions to ensure the livelihood of the tribal society and gave it a concrete form and did many important works for development.

The President said that Devi Ahilyabai has set many benchmarks in efficient administration, justice and welfare work. Her life has been a good example of revolutionary change in many fields including social, political, economic, educational for women. The path she created in the period of difficulties and struggle with her self-confidence and determination is being walked smoothly today. Referring to a poem of a foreign poetess, the President said that Devi Ahilyabai was famous not only in the country but also abroad. This is a matter of pride for us. I pay my respectful homage to the memory of Lok Mata Devi Ahilyabai. She said that it is due to the blessings and ideals of Lok Mata Devi Ahilyabai that the maximum number of medals in today’s convocation have been received by daughters. She congratulated all the daughters who received medals and expressed confidence that they will move forward by making their own path by overcoming all the obstacles in life and will achieve their goals.

President Smt. Murmu said that Smt. Sumitra Mahajan from Indore has set a very impressive example of public service and contribution to democracy. Smt. Murmu called upon educational institutions, teachers and parents to encourage daughters to become educated and self-reliant. She said that India is rapidly moving ahead to become the most developed and leading country in 2047. Daughters will play an important role in this. She said that daughters should be encouraged to dream big, set big goals and work hard to achieve them.

President Mrs. Murmu said that Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya is a prestigious university where more than three lakh students are studying. There are many districts in the area of ​​this university where the number of scheduled tribe people is high. Keeping this in mind, Tribal Study Centre has been started in this university. This is a commendable effort. She said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi gave us the slogan of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Prayas”. Everyone’s cooperation and collective development is necessary to take the country forward. For all-round development, everyone’s cooperation should be there along with the government to bring the backward people forward. She said that it is a matter of happiness that Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya has implemented the new education policy. She said that choose the right path to move ahead in life. For this, take the help of parents, teachers and experienced people.
