Raipur
Governor Shri Ramen Deka attended the closing ceremony of Chakradhar Samaroh held in Raigarh as the chief guest. On this occasion, he said that this platform is not only a symbol of our cultural identity, but is also an important medium to keep our rich past and wonderful traditions of art and music alive. Governor Shri Deka said that there is similarity in the culture of Chhattisgarh and Assam.
During the British period, many people from Chhattisgarh came to Assam and settled there. As a governor, my priority is to promote the culture here. The education system here is very ancient. Referring to the plays related to Ramayana and Mahabharata performed in the light of diyas in the past, he said that plays used to connect moral education with the path of devotion. Development of the country and the state is possible only through the path of devotion.
The Governor said that even though our method of worship is different, we have to work for the upliftment of the society. He said that before coming here, we studied about Raja Chakradhar Singh and found that he was a great person. He established Kathak as a new style and gave it recognition which is known as Raigarh Gharana.
The Governor said that this platform will take the cultural heritage and art of the state to new heights and will become a powerful medium to get international recognition. Together we will preserve this heritage for the coming generations. Congratulating the organizers, he said that this event will continue in the future as well. Our priority is that Raigarh remains green and while working towards environmental conservation, we all should plant a tree in the name of mother.
Addressing the function, Finance Minister and local MLA Shri O.P. Choudhary also said that through the Chakradhar Festival, the cultural splendor of Chhattisgarh has attained new heights and recognition. On this occasion, the first lady of the state, Smt. Rani Deka Kakoti, IG Shri Sanjeev Shukla, Director Culture Department Shri Vivek Acharya, public representatives and officers and employees of the district administration were present.
