Sakshi Malik, Geeta Phogat announce Wrestling Champions Super League

New Delhi
Former women wrestlers Sakshi Malik and Geeta Phogat on Monday announced the launch of Wrestling Champions Super League through social media posts. Rio Olympic bronze medalist Sakshi and 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medalist Geeta posted a joint statement on the social media platform ‘X’.

He wrote in the post, “Our villages and communities raised us, the whole country came together to make us champions. There can be no greater honor than fighting for the tricolor. Your love and inspiration made this possible. We are grateful to both our public and private partners for their contributions, and we especially thank the Government for its continued commitment and support.

He said, “In return for the trust you have shown in us, it is important that we dedicate our sporting talent, experience, patience and success in the service of the sport. Therefore, together we announce the launch of Wrestling Champions Super League.”

Paris Olympics bronze medallist Aman Sehrawat has also joined this new effort, and has extended his full support. Sakshi, who was a prominent face along with Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat in the wrestlers’ protest last year, announced her retirement from wrestling in December last year.
