Bloody game of superstition in Chhattisgarh, five people including three women killed on suspicion of witchcraft


A couple and a woman were allegedly beaten to death on suspicion of practicing witchcraft in a village in Chhattisgarh’s tribal-dominated Sukma district on Sunday. Police said five people from the village have been detained in connection with the murder and are being questioned. The incident took place in Ektal village under Konta police station area. The deceased have been identified as Mausam Kanna and his wife Mausam Biri, Mausam Buchcha and his wife Mausam Arzoo. The deceased include another woman named Lacchi.

The arrested accused

Police said that senior officials reached the spot as soon as information about the murder was received. Police have detained five accused. The names of the arrested accused are Savalam Rajesh, Savalam Hidma, Karam Satyam, Kunjam Mukesh and Podiyam Enka.

Before this, 4 people including a baby were killed

Police said that a similar incident was reported on Thursday in the state’s Balodabazar-Bhatpara district. In this, four members of the same family, including an 11-month-old infant, were killed on suspicion of witchcraft.
