During the trial run of Durg-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat train on Friday night, some youths pelted stones near Bagbahara in Mahasamund. This caused cracks in the windows of coaches C-2, C-4 and C-9. The train staff informed the Railway Protection Force about this. The Railway Police has arrested five youths.
The accused of pelting stones on Vande Bharat train, Lekhraj Sonwani, Devendra Chandrakar, Arjun Yadav, Jeetu Tandi and Shiv Kumar were presented in Raipur Railway Court on Saturday. During interrogation, all the five accused have said that they are Congress workers. The brother-in-law of Congress councilor of Bagbahara is among the accused.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to flag off this train on 16th September. On Friday, this train was sent from Durg to Visakhapatnam at 5.45 am as a part of the trial run. While returning from there, it was pelted with stones at 9.45 pm. On reaching Durg at 11 pm, this train was taken to the yard. It was inspected here.
State’s second Vande Bharat
This train running between Durg and Visakhapatnam will be the second Vande Bharat of the state. Earlier, Bilaspur-Nagpur Vande Bharat was started on 11 December 2022.
