Security forces achieved two major successes in two days in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, during which they killed one Naxalite and arrested 8 Naxalites in two separate incidents. A reward of Rs 1 lakh was also announced on one of the arrested Naxalites. Police have also recovered a huge amount of explosives from the Naxalites.

Giving information about the arrest of the Naxalites, the police officer said that this success was achieved by the joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG), Bastar Fighters and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Friday, when their joint team conducted a search operation near Benpalli village of Jagargunda police station area. During this, these 8 Naxalites were arrested. He said that as soon as the Naxalites realized the presence of security forces, they tried to run away, but after chasing them for some time, they were surrounded and caught.

The officer said that among the arrested Naxalites is militia commander Muchaki Pala (age-33 years), on whom a reward of Rs 1 lakh was declared. Another Naxalite Madkam Sannu (age- 40 years), who is the deputy militia commander, is also included. All the other Naxalites were active as militia members of the Maoists.

He further said that the team has recovered four gelatin sticks, 200 grams of gunpowder, four detonators, cordex wire, pencil cells and other Maoist material from the arrested Naxalites. During interrogation, the Naxalites told that they were trying to plant explosions to harm the security forces on the instructions of Naxalite leaders. Officials said that the operation against Naxalites is going on in the area.

While giving information about the second incident, Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan said that there was a fierce encounter between security forces and Naxalites in the forest of Sukma district, in which one Naxalite was killed. Also, a large amount of explosives and other material was recovered.

The police had received information about the presence of Naxalites in the forest and hills of Tumalpaad in the Chintagufa police station area of ​​the district. After which, on the instructions of senior police officers, a joint team of district force, DRG and Bastar Fighter was sent to the spot.

He said that after reaching the spot, the soldiers were cordoning off the area when suddenly the Naxalites saw the soldiers. After this, the Naxalites started firing bullets at the soldiers. Seeing the attack, the soldiers also took charge and after this the soldiers also retaliated. During this, the soldiers killed a Naxalite.

Seeing the soldiers overpowering them, the Naxalites took advantage of the dense forest and fled from there. After the encounter, the soldiers conducted a search operation at the spot in which the soldiers recovered the body of a Naxalite from the spot. The soldiers also recovered a weapon and a large amount of material from the spot. The Naxalite killed in this encounter has not been identified yet. According to sources, the Naxalite killed is of ACM rank and the search operation is ongoing.
