Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Shri Arun Saw, who went to America on a study tour, visited road and building construction sites in Washington on Friday and observed the works. He discussed with architects and engineers at the construction sites and got information about the material, metal and machinery used in construction. He held a meeting with experts there and studied the new techniques of road and building construction and various stages of construction projects. Secretary of Public Works Department Dr. Kamalpreet Singh was also with him during this time.

Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Saw held a meeting with construction experts in Washington and learnt about new construction techniques and the phased steps taken in the USA from planning to construction of road and building construction projects. There, the complete design of buildings and infrastructure is prepared in the computer using BIM computer system, which not only helps in accurately estimating the material and cost required for their construction, but also helps in the maintenance work to be done later.

Shri Saav said that for the construction of good quality and durable roads and buildings in Chhattisgarh, new techniques and methods prevalent in America will be studied in detail and their implementation will be considered in the Public Works Department. He inquired from experts in Washington about the health and safety measures of construction workers at work sites. He also studied the measures to be taken to protect residential areas near roads from noise pollution. In the USA, a very detailed study is done at the initial DPR level in road construction and building construction projects, so that problems and delays and cost escalation that may occur later can be avoided.
