10 devotees drowned in water during Ganesh immersion in Dehgam of Gandhinagar district of Gujarat. Bodies of five of these people have been recovered, while the search for others is on. A convoy of provincial officials and fire brigade has reached the spot. It is worth noting that a few days ago, 5 people drowned during Ganesh immersion in Saraswati river of Patan, after which a similar accident has been seen in Dehgam. According to preliminary information, 10 people drowned during Ganesh immersion in Meshvo river passing through Vasna Sogathi village of Dehgam.
People drowned while trying to save the young man
The accident happened when a young man slipped during Ganesh Visarjan. After this, 10 people drowned one after the other in an attempt to save him. Bodies of 5 of these people have been found. At present, apart from the fire brigade and local swimmers, provincial officials have also reached the spot and are searching for other people who fell into the river. This year, several incidents of death have been reported in the state during Ganesh Visarjan. Before Dehgam, four people died in Patan, one in Junagadh and two in Nadiad in similar incidents.
