Two companies of Tata Group have made a big deal. In fact, Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, signed an agreement with Tata Motors. Under this, 200 fast-charging stations will be installed for electric commercial vehicles (E-CB) in metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Kolkata.
Many big benefits of the deal
Tata Power told the stock exchange that the current partnership will focus on charging facilities for small electric commercial vehicles. Under this initiative, Tata Motors and Tata Power will jointly provide special tariffs for charging to Tata Motors’ electric commercial vehicle owners. This will reduce the operating costs of vehicle owners and give them more profit. Let us tell you that electric commercial vehicle users in the country will soon get the benefit of about 1000 fast chargers at strategic locations, as plans are underway to rapidly expand the charging network.
The timing of the deal is very special
The deal comes at a time when the Union Cabinet has approved two major projects to promote EVs, including buses, ambulances and trucks. These two schemes are the PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM e-DRIVE) scheme with an outlay of Rs 10,900 crore over a period of two years, and the PM-e-Bus Service-Payment Security Mechanism (PSM) scheme with a budget of Rs 3,435 crore.
Girish Wagh, Executive Director, Tata Motors, said that this scheme will take India’s journey towards zero-emission transportation forward with even more speed and vigour, especially in the truck, bus and ambulance segment. He said that we will continue to collaborate with the government and other stakeholders in this effort to build a nation towards eco-friendly transportation.
