Indian-origin woman fired from job in US, had affair with CEO; what did the company say

Being in a relationship with the CEO has proved costly for an Indian woman. The case is from America, where an Indian woman lost her job due to having a relationship with a company official. However, the relationship between the two was consensual. The company argues that both have violated the policies. The special thing is that the woman has previously worked with a big organization like Goldman Sachs.

According to media reports, Indian-origin Nabanita Nag has been fired from her job for having a relationship with the CEO. This step has been taken by the US railroad transport company Norfolk Southern. She was working as the Chief Legal Officer in the company. However, apart from this, the company’s CEO Alan Shaw has also been fired from his job.

Nag joined Norfolk Southern in 2020 as general counsel. She became senior vice president and chief legal officer in 2022 and was made executive vice president of corporate affairs and chief legal officer in 2023. She has also previously been part of Golman Sachs as general counsel.

what the company says

Despite the consensual relationship between the two, the company has taken a big action. In a statement issued by Norfolk Southern Corporation, it has been said that both of them have violated the company’s policies and have also ignored the code of ethics by getting into a relationship. The company has also made it clear that Shaw’s dismissal is not related to the company’s performance or financial reporting.
