Australian Prime Minister is eager to meet PM Modi, will meet in Quad meeting

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said he looks forward to meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Quad partners at the Quad Leaders Summit in Wilmington on September 21. The Australian Prime Minister will attend the summit alongside Quad leaders, US President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio to discuss important challenges facing the Indo-Pacific and strengthening Quad cooperation.

He said the Quad is a diplomatic partnership of four countries committed to taking practical action in the Indo-Pacific to build the kind of region we want to live in – an open, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific, where sovereignty is respected and competition is met with responsibility.

The Quad is making positive contributions to the Indo-Pacific by delivering practical results that respond to the region’s priorities. The Quad has been working toward this end year after year in areas such as strengthening clean energy supply chains, supporting maritime security, helping train the region’s infrastructure construction professionals, enhancing regional health security, and building connectivity and resilience through undersea cable cooperation.

At the Quad Summit, Prime Minister Albanese will discuss regional issues and opportunities to advance a positive and pragmatic agenda. This is the fourth in-person Quad Leaders’ Summit and the leaders look forward to India hosting the 2025 Quad Leaders’ Summit.

Prime Minister Albanese said, “I look forward to meeting with my Quad partners to discuss the important challenges facing the Indo-Pacific region and to strengthen Quad cooperation.” He said Australia is deeply invested in the future prosperity and stability of the Indo-Pacific. He said Australia, the US, India and Japan share a vision for a region governed by accepted rules and norms, where all countries can cooperate, trade and develop.

Prime Minister Albanese said we will work together to shape the kind of region we want to live in. We are always better when we work together with our close friends and partners.
