Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has announced a compensation of Rs 1 crore to the family of Sepoy Pradeep Patel of Katni district of the state who lost his life in Sikkim. He said this on Saturday in Khajuraho where he had come to pay tribute to the deceased soldier. He paid tribute by offering a wreath on the arrival of Sepoy Patel’s body at Khajuraho airport.

After paying tribute to the soldier, the CM said that this is a sad incident for us, but we will always be proud of the country and the army. The soldiers of the country, whether in peace time or war time, perform their duty diligently and play an important role in protecting the country. Yadav further said, ‘I paid floral tribute to the brave soldier at Khajuraho airport. The deceased was unmarried, so one crore rupees will be given to his parents. The state government is with the bereaved family in this hour of grief.’

The deceased soldier was originally a resident of Hardua village in Katni district of the state. Where he was cremated with state honors in the evening. He was cremated by his nephew. On this occasion, state BJP chief and local MP VD Sharma, local MLA Sanjay Pathak and many other leaders were present. During this, these people also shouldered the body of the deceased.

Patel is survived by his two married sisters and parents. A relative said that Pradip Patel’s father Baisakhu Patel is a small farmer who does not earn much. The Patel family still lives in a kutcha house. Patel’s elder sister Guddi Patel, a resident of Katni, said that her brother was selected in the army in 2019. He used to visit his parents every four months. She said, ‘My brother used to tell me that he wants to get a house built first and then get married.’ She further said that Pradip used to bear the financial expenses of the son born to her from her late husband.

Four Army personnel, including Sepoy Pradeep Patel, were killed in the accident in Sikkim’s Pakyong district on September 5 when a vehicle carrying Army EMC personnel skidded off the road on the Rhenock-Rongli highway and fell into the forest, police said.

Let us tell you that in June, the Madhya Pradesh government had decided to divide the financial assistance given to the family of the martyr, including security personnel of the army, paramilitary forces and police, equally among the husband/wife and parents.
