After Chhattisgarh, now swine flu has started wreaking havoc in Madhya Pradesh as well. A professor died of swine flu in Indore district. The professor was ill for the last several days and had met a professor from Mexico a few days ago. There is panic in Indore after the professor’s death due to swine flu. Swine flu has already wreaked havoc in Madhya Pradesh’s neighboring state Chhattisgarh. So far 17 people have died of swine flu in Chhattisgarh, while this is the first case of death due to swine flu in Indore city.

Dr. Vijay Babu Gupta, who was the HOD of the Data Science Department in a university, was undergoing treatment at Suyash Hospital for a week. Along with the doctor, his wife and daughter were also infected, who were discharged two days ago and are still in isolation. It is being told that Dr. Gupta met a professor from Mexico at the International Conference on Business Intelligence, Computational Mathematics and Data Analytics organized at the university on 23-24 August. After meeting the professor, he fell victim to cold, cough and flu. Swine flu was confirmed in the investigation. Along with swine flu, he also had other diseases including sleep apnea and hypertension. His condition became so bad that three days ago he had to be put on a ventilator. Apart from his wife, the family has two daughters. He breathed his last due to swine flu on Saturday afternoon. This is the first case of death due to swine flu in Indore.

Anxiety increased among colleagues, many isolated

The death of HOD Dr. Vijay Babu Gupta due to swine flu has increased the concerns of professors and other staff. Especially those who met him during and after the conference. Many people have also isolated themselves. Many people are reaching the hospital for testing.

13 patients this year

A total of 13 swine flu positive patients have been found in Indore since January. The good thing is that only three are active, whose treatment is going on. Talking on this matter, District Epidemiologist Dr. Anshul Mishra said that if anyone has complaints like cold and high fever, they should get treatment immediately. Swine flu is also known as H1N1 influenza virus. To prevent swine flu, one should get flu vaccine regularly.
