The work of Shri Mahakal Ropeway Project will start after a month from October. The completion period of this project has been fixed for two years, i.e. October 2026. Mahakal Ropeway will be built from the railway station to Ganesh Colony via Triveni Museum (Mahakal Mahalok Dwar), whose total length will be 1.76 km. 3 stations, 13 towers and 48 cabins will be installed in this ropeway. This decision has been taken in a meeting.

To provide easy darshan to the devotees of Shri Mahakaleshwar, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has taken an unprecedented decision to build Mahakal Ropeway from Ujjain Railway Station to Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple. To speed up the ropeway project, a meeting was held in the presence of Managing Director Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC) Avinash Lavania, Ujjain Collector Neeraj Kumar Singh, and CEO National Highway Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) Prakash Gaur at the Administrative Complex Building Ujjain.

In the meeting, National Highway Logistics Management Limited official Jigar informed that the seating capacity of each cabin of the ropeway will be around 10 persons and the travel time will be around 7 minutes. Monocable detachable gondola technology will be used in the ropeway. It will also have integrated rescue system and vertical rescue system. The capacity of the ropeway will be around 2000 passengers per direction per hour.

Managing Director MPRDC Lavania directed the construction agency MS Infra Limited to complete the project work in a quality manner within the stipulated time frame. Construction work should continue smoothly and problems arising in the project should be resolved quickly through mutual coordination. All the concerned departments and agencies associated with the project should work together with a positive mindset for the work of Baba Mahakal. Railways, Municipal Corporation, MPEB, Smart City should expedite the work of utility shifting and issuing necessary permissions.

District Panchayat CEO Jayati Singh, DM DRM Ratlam Piyush Pandey, Corporation Commissioner Ashish Pathak, Development Authority CEO Sandeep Soni, Assistant Collector Gagan Meena, Divisional Manager MPRDC Manwani, Zonal Officer NHLML SH Madhukar, Divisional Officer NHLML Ravindra Gupta and officers of other related departments were present in the meeting.

Gondola technology will be used in ropeway

Let us tell you that in the Mahakal Ropeway Project, the nodal department is Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation, consultancy agency is National Highway Logistics Management Limited and construction agency is MS Infra Limited. Necessary equipment will be provided to MS Infra Limited by Austria’s Doppel Meyer Company. Mono cable detachable gondola technology will be used in the ropeway. Integrated rescue system and vertical rescue system will be in the ropeway. The capacity of the ropeway will be around 2000 passengers per direction per hour.

Workers’ safety and permissions should be done soon

CEO National Highway Logistics Management Limited gave instructions that special attention should be paid to safety and quality in the construction work. All dimensions of safety should be considered. During the construction work, systematic barricading should be done in coordination with the traffic police. Workers should take care of necessary safety like helmets etc. Railways, Municipal Corporation, MPEB, Smart City should expedite the work of utility shifting and issuing necessary permissions.
