A very shocking incident has come to light in Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh. Here a tailor was shocked to know that his wife and two daughters were still alive, even though he had identified their bodies and cremated them in August last year.
The Raigarh police had handed over the decomposed bodies of the three to 45-year-old Abul Hasan. However, the police are now trying to gather information about their real identities by releasing the photographs of the three bodies.
According to a report in The Indian Express, on 8 August 2023, Hasan, a resident of Pasta in Balrampur, his 38-year-old wife Rabia left the house with her two daughters aged 6 and 3 years due to a quarrel with her husband. After this, Hasan lodged a missing complaint at the local Pasta police station.
On August 14, the Raigarh police found the bodies of a woman and two girls in the Dehjari river. Their postmortem report said they were suicides. Since Hasan had lodged a missing complaint about his wife and daughters, the Raigarh police called him to Raigarh to identify the bodies. Hasan identified all three bodies kept in the mortuary as his wife and daughters and the police handed over the bodies to him as Hasan had claimed them.
Rabiya is from Jharkhand
Pasta police station in-charge Vimlesh Singh said, “The woman is from Jharkhand. After a quarrel with her husband, she left home and went to Rajasthan without informing anyone. She stayed there for a few months and due to financial problems, she went to her parents’ house in Jharkhand.”
Vimlesh Singh said, “Hasan learnt in July that Rabiya had returned home. He contacted her and was shocked to learn that she was alive. They started living together again, but did not inform the police about it. As soon as the news of her return home spread, we got information from our informers and contacted Hassan. He confirmed that she had returned home.”
The police have recorded the statement of Hasan’s wife, according to which she has not lodged any complaint against anyone. Hasan had also left his rented house in Pasta and was living in Kusmi, 70 km away.
Additional SP of Raigarh police Akash Markam said that at that time we had handed over the decomposed bodies to Hasan after he identified them. Now we are publishing advertisements to identify the three deceased. When asked if the bodies would be removed, Markam said that we will follow the legal procedures and efforts are on to identify the three persons and trace their family members.
