Pankaj Tripathi got his first big break like this, he did a great job by doing just one different move from the rest

Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi has played many such characters from Kaleen Bhaiya of ‘Mirzapur’ to Kanti Sharan Mugdal of ‘OMG-2’ through which he has proved himself. Today Pankaj Tripathi is counted among some of the most amazing actors in the industry. The journey to success in Hindi cinema was not easy for Pankaj Tripathi too, but from the beginning he was clear about one thing that he wanted to do things his way. Few people know that Pankaj Tripathi got his first big break just because of doing a different move compared to other actors.

Pankaj did this move in casting

Pankaj Tripathi’s fine detailing in a role of just a few seconds proved so useful that it brought him to the notice of a successful director and he also learnt how important it is to understand the nuances while acting. During an interview, Pankaj Tripathi talked about the advertisement in which he got a small role of a politician. Pankaj Tripathi said, “It was the role of a politician, in which I made a grabbing gesture and said that I have come to ask for your vote.”

Pankaj Tripathi made this request

Pankaj Tripathi told that then the casting director interrupted him and said hey hey don’t do this. You have come to ask for votes. You are snatching it. Then Pankaj Tripathi said that I want to do the same. That he is such a leader who makes a gesture of snatching and then folds his hands and says that I have come to ask for your vote. If you don’t give it, I will snatch it. Then the casting director told me that okay, you should say in the next take with folded hands that namaste I have come to ask for your vote.

R Balki liked that take

Pankaj Tripathi gave two takes as per the casting director’s instructions. But before leaving he said that please show the director the snatching take as well. He showed it and R Balki was the director of it. Pankaj Tripathi said that the casting was done and then the director met me and the first thing he said to me was that Pankaj, do the snatching take that you did. Pankaj Tripathi said that if I had not done that, I would never have got work. It is known that Pankaj Tripathi played important roles in R Balki’s films Cheeni Kum (2007) and Shamitabh (2015).
