Monkeys made life difficult for Pakistanis amidst floods; panic in many areas, people forced to stay indoors

Monkeys have created panic in Pakistan’s Punjab amid the devastation caused by floods. According to Dawn’s report, 5 wild monkeys have reached Narowal in the state since August 26, due to which people of many areas are living in a panic. All of them are forced to stay indoors out of fear. These monkeys have been seen jumping on the roofs in areas like Usmanganj, Loharan, Farooq Ganj and Afzalpura. Khwaja Muhammad Arshad and Tariq Mahmood are local residents. They said that people are very worried due to the monkeys. We called the wildlife department several times for help in catching these animals, but no action has been taken so far.

Locals said that the situation is becoming very scary due to the wild monkeys. Women are keeping their children indoors due to fear of their attack. Local resident Rizwan Butt told the news outlet that the monkeys have damaged the items kept on the roofs. They are causing a lot of harm to us. In the nearby area of Zafarwal, a resident was attacked by a monkey, leaving him seriously injured. These people believe that these monkeys must have been displaced due to floods in the Ravi River and rain drains, as there is no forest near the city of Narowal.

Monkeys ran towards the city due to heavy rain

According to the report, due to heavy monsoon rains, monkeys have come out of their natural habitats. This is the reason why their number has suddenly increased in many urban areas. Many parts of Pakistan are receiving torrential rains. Due to this, there are incidents of flash floods in many districts, waterlogging in cities and landslides. Meanwhile, 12 people died in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday morning after a house was hit by a landslide. The dead include 3 women, 6 children and three men, who were members of the same family. All of them were sleeping in the house at the time of the landslide. All the bodies were recovered from the debris of the house. The accident took place in Upper Dir district where heavy rains have been occurring due to monsoon for the last few days.
