The Champions Trophy is to be held in Pakistan next year. There is a lot of uproar before this trophy. The BCCI has clearly said that it will not send its team to Pakistan for the ICC tournament. The BCCI has said that the Champions Trophy should be organized outside Pakistan. Former Pakistani leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has also supported the BCCI and said that India should not come to his country.
Political relations between India and Pakistan are not good. Apart from this, India is also concerned about the safety of the players in Pakistan and hence it does not want to send its team to Pakistan. Kaneria has also admitted that the safety of the players will be at stake in Pakistan, due to which India should not come here.
‘Pakistan should think’
Kaneria said that Pakistan’s condition is not good and it should not even think about the Champions Trophy. Talking to ‘Sports Tak’, Kaneria said, “Look at the current situation of Pakistan. Seeing this, I must say that the Indian team should not go to Pakistan. Pakistan should think about it. The ICC should take a decision on this and organize this tournament in a hybrid model. The Champions Trophy should be held in Dubai because it would be a good thing.”
Players’ safety comes first
Kaneria said that the safety of the players is the first priority. This former leg spinner said, “The safety of the players is the first priority. Respect is the second. There are many things. I think the idea of BCCI is good. I think they will also accept the decision of other countries. I believe that this will happen in a hybrid model.”
