For the Simhastha fair to be held in Ujjain after four years, the purification of the Shipra river will begin from Indore. The Kanh and Saraswati rivers meet the Shipra and these two rivers pollute it the most. The Indore Municipal Corporation will free both the rivers from pollution. Treatment plants will be built at a cost of Rs 500 crore. For this, encroachments will also be removed from the surrounding areas.
Collector Ashish Singh has also held a meeting with the officers to remove encroachments. The problem of waterlogging in Indore will also be solved by removing the encroachments on the river. Singh said that the Green Tribunal has also asked to remove the encroachments. After the survey, 1500 encroachments have been identified. The affected people will also be given housing. Encroachments will be removed up to 30 meters around the river.
A treatment plant of 300 MLD capacity has been built in Indore’s Kabitkhedi area at a cost of 200 crores, but the city has spread to Niranjanpur, Lasudiya, Mangalia and there too the sewage water is flowing into the river.
These areas are occupied
There is encroachment around the river on both sides from Karbala bridge to Machhi Bazaar. These include Jawahar Nagar, Katju Colony, Bara Bhai Basti. The maximum encroachment has been done from Swadeshi Mill to Bhagirathpura Basti. The administration has also given notice to this colony. Apart from this, there are more than 300 encroachments on both sides of the river in Kulkarni Bhatta area. In the central area, there has been large scale encroachment in Champa Bagh, Ranipura, Toda Basti, Shyamacharan Shukla Nagar, Shivshakti Nagar, Cantonment on the Kanh river. Which will now be removed.
