Sarabjot said, I hardly got a chance to train with Manu before the competition in Paris

Bengaluru
Sarabjot Singh, who along with Manu Bhaker gave India its first Olympics in the mixed shooting event, said that they hardly got a chance to train together before their event. Manu and Sarabjot created history by winning the bronze medal in the 10 meter air pistol mixed team shooting event of the Paris Olympics.

Sarabjot said, “My training was at 9 am and hers at 12 pm. Both of us had separate training sessions. The mixed training session lasted for 30 minutes before which she used to train separately and I separately.” He said, “Our conversations were usually brief and limited to ‘we have to give our 100 percent’.” Sarabjot recalled, “Sometimes I used to make fun of her and sometimes she used to make fun of me.”

Sarabjot is a fan of Turkish chef Yusuf Dikech. The 22-year-old from Dhin village in Haryana revealed to Puma India that he is a long-time fan of his, saying, “I have been watching his (Yusuf’s) videos since 2011. He has always been like this. Now he is 51. I tried. Still I could not match his ‘perfection’. If I had a chance, I would ask him what he eats?”

Sarbjot said his pistol has SSingh30 inscribed on it, which includes his initials and an important date in his journey. “I didn’t give it any name. I got it inscribed on my pistol when I performed my best at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou. This is my best pistol because my medal (gold) came on September 30 and it was a significant achievement,” he said. Finally, the Olympic medallist spoke about his goal for the 2028 Los Angeles Games and pointing to his gleaming bronze medal, said, “In LA ’28’, it has to change its colour.”
