PM Modi’s visit to Kiev is considered very important amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. PM Modi talked about peace with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The Special Protection Group (SPG) had already made tight arrangements for his security. SPD had installed a bullet resistant shield for the protection of PM Modi.
The Prime Minister’s Office was already aware of the discontent among Ukrainians over India’s relationship with Russia. The Prime Minister’s team had also informed the SPG about anti-India elements. As such, at least 60 SPG commandos were deployed under the leadership of Director SPG Alok Sharma for PM Modi’s security. This was also revealed during the meeting with people of Indian origin. Many people told Prime Minister Modi that Ukrainians are angry over the relationship between Russia and India and they express this anger with the Indians living here.
According to the information, the SPG team was on alert 24 hours during the Kiev visit. There was a possibility of snipers even during PM Modi’s walk in the Peace Park. In such a situation, the SPG team was on alert. In the video released by the news channels, it can be seen that soldiers were deployed in the entire area and BR shields were installed. When PM Modi boarded the train to go back to Poland, the SPG team also got relief. He left for India from Poland itself.
PM Modi told Volodymyr Zelensky that dialogue is necessary for peace and talks should be held with Russia without wasting time. It is very important to find a way to end the war. He said, we are not neutral. We have taken sides from the beginning. We come from the land of Buddha and hence do not give space to war. He said that India is ready to play its role in holding peace talks between Ukraine and Russia. Apart from this, PM Modi also promised to intervene personally.
