Raipur.

Dalit and tribal organizations have called for a ‘Bharat Bandh’ on Wednesday. This bandh has been called to demand strong representation and security for marginalized communities. The ‘National Confederation of Dalit and Adivasi Organizations’ (NACDAOR) has also released a list of demands. The most important among these is the demand for justice and equality for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC).

In Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, the tribal community was seen on the roads since morning to make the Bharat Bandh a success. The police department made tight security arrangements to ensure that no untoward incident takes place during this bandh. At the same time, people from the tribal community were seen on the roads with boards in their hands since morning. People from the tribal community were seen on the national highway since morning, where vehicles coming from Raipur were stopped near Asana. Apart from this, some vehicles were stopped before the new bridge. Due to this kind of stopping of vehicles, there was a traffic jam on the roads. While on one hand people faced problems due to the Bastar bandh, during this bandh, auto drivers also charged arbitrary fares from the passengers. The fare to go to the Medical College Hospital was also more than Rs 40.

Shops closed

Here, the bandh has an effect in other districts including Bastar’s divisional headquarters Jagdalpur, Dantewada, Bijapur. All the shops are closed since morning. However, emergency services like medical are operational. Here too, members of the society have come out on the streets. Bastar Chamber of Commerce has supported the Bharat Bandh of the tribal society.

Force deployed

In view of the bandh called by the tribal community, police forces have been deployed in all the seven districts of Bastar. Soldiers have been deployed at every intersection in Jagdalpur. Passenger buses are currently running. The bandh has been called from 6 am to 5 to 6 pm.

The president said – all seven districts are closed

Prakash Thakur, divisional president of Sarva Adivasi Samaj, says that on August 1, the Supreme Court, while giving its verdict in a case of Punjab, has said that creamy layer has been implemented by doing quota over quota and sub-classification in the reservation of scheduled castes and tribes. In protest against this, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other natives have called for a bandh. All the seven districts are closed.
