Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has paid tribute to former President Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma on his birth anniversary. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Dr. Sharma will always be remembered for his service and dedication to the nation. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Dr. Sharma was a proud leader of Madhya Pradesh and the nation. He also participated in the freedom struggle.
It is notable that India’s 9th President Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma was born on 19 August 1918 in Bhopal. In the year 1992, Dr. Sharma assumed the charge of India’s highest post, the President. Before becoming the President, Mr. Sharma was also the 8th Vice President of India in the year 1987. Dr. Sharma discharged many other important responsibilities, among which he worked as the Chief Minister of Bhopal State (1952-56), Cabinet Minister in the Madhya Pradesh Government (1956-1971) and Union Communications Minister (1974-77). He was also elected to the Lok Sabha twice. Dr. Sharma was also the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Punjab and Maharashtra.
