The court has extended the judicial remand of Bhilainagar MLA Devendra Yadav, arrested in the case of violent demonstration in Balodabazar Collectorate of Chhattisgarh, for 7 days. On Tuesday, the hearing was held through video conferencing in the court of Judge Ajay Khakha in the District Sessions Court Balodabazar. The court has extended the judicial remand period while rejecting the bail plea of Congress MLA Devendra. For now, MLA Devendra Yadav will remain in jail.
On Tuesday, former CM Bhupesh Baghel, Leader of Opposition Charandas Mahant, former Deputy CM TS Singhdev and 15 other Congress leaders went to Raipur Central Jail to meet MLA Devendra Yadav. Meanwhile, Balodabazar District Sessions Court extended the judicial remand of MLA Devendra Yadav for 7 days. Now he will remain in jail in judicial custody till August 27. Chhattisgarh Congress is preparing to fight from the streets to the House against the arrest of MLA Devendra Yadav in the Balodabazar violence case. Dharnas and demonstrations will be held in all the district headquarters of Chhattisgarh on August 24. A big meeting of the Congress Legislature Party was held in Raipur’s Rajiv Bhawan regarding the arrest of the MLA, in which the strategy of the protest was discussed. Leader of Opposition Charandas Mahant said that all the MLAs will go to meet the Governor on August 23 regarding this matter. At the same time, MLAs of the concerned area will hold a press conference in all the district headquarters.

After the meeting of the legislative party in Rajiv Bhawan, Congress leaders reached the jail to meet arrested Bhilai Nagar MLA Devendra Yadav. Former CM Bhupesh Baghel has accused the state government of fraudulently arresting Devendra Yadav. Baghel said that Devendra has told that he was not given a copy of the FIR. He was also not told for which crime he was arrested. Baghel said that all the notices that Devendra Yadav received were under section 160, which is for testimony.
