New Delhi
There are 13 leading groups entitled to subsidies under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) scheme for manufacturing electrolysers in the country. Adani Enterprises, Waaree Energies, Ohmium Operations and Avaada Electrolysers are among the 13 companies that have acquired capacities eligible for incentives under the SIGHT scheme for manufacturing electrolysers in the country.

₹2200 crore allocation
According to the report, thirteen companies have been selected to receive subsidy under the second installment of the SIGHT scheme. An allocation of Rs 2200 crore has been made for the second installment in the scheme. Let us tell you that in January 2023, during the second term of the Narendra Modi government, the Union Cabinet approved the National Green Hydrogen Mission with an outlay of Rs 19,744 crore. Along with this, the government has issued guidelines for incentive schemes for electrolyser manufacturing and production of green hydrogen.

Detail of the mission
This mission will contribute to India’s goal of becoming self-reliant through clean energy. The mission will enable significant decarbonization of the economy, reduce dependence on fossil fuel imports, and enable India to assume technology and market leadership in green hydrogen.

The mission is expected to develop a green hydrogen production capacity of 5 MMT per year by 2030. It is estimated that about 50 MMT of CO2 emissions per year can be prevented through production and use of the targeted quantity of green hydrogen. The government is also pursuing bilateral collaboration with several countries on the development of the green hydrogen sector.
