The whole country is shocked by the news of rape and murder of a trainee doctor. Meanwhile, on August 14, a mob created a ruckus in KG Kar Hospital. Police have arrested 19 people in this case. Police have said that they have been identified on the basis of information received from social media. Two days after the incident, Kolkata Police on Friday said that it has arrested 19 people who vandalized the hospital premises during the violent mob.

Kolkata Police said on social media on Friday, “So far 19 arrests have been made in the case of vandalism at RG Kar Hospital. Five of them have been identified on the basis of social media feedback. The police have also appealed to the people to help identify the accused. Kolkata Police wrote, “If you recognize any suspect in our previous post, please inform us.” Earlier on Thursday, the police shared pictures of the suspects who vandalized the hospital. Kolkata Police had posted on social media, “Information needed – If anyone can help identify the persons seen in the red circle in the pictures below, they are requested to contact us directly or through their local police station.” The police also released a video of the miscreants attacking the barricades.

There is no damage to the spot- Police

At the same time, the police has informed that there is no damage to the spot and warned that strict action will be taken against those spreading rumors. On Thursday, the police said that on the night of August 14, a mob of 5,000 to 7,000 people attacked the RG Kar Hospital. The mob attacked the protesting doctors and medical students and tried to vandalize the campus. Police said, “We are proud that our colleagues posted at the spot, including DC (North), tried to control the situation by risking their lives. Many of our people have been injured in the attack, some of whom are seriously injured.”

Doctors on strike again

Meanwhile, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has issued an official statement on Thursday. According to this, doctors have announced a nationwide strike from 6 am on August 17 to 6 am on August 18. On August 9, a PG graduate trainee doctor was brutally raped and murdered while on duty at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College.
