Lightning struck 12 workers in Chhatarpur, MP, 2 died, 7 in critical condition

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert of heavy rain with thunderstorms in many districts of Madhya Pradesh during the next 24 hours. Lightning warning has also been issued at many places. Meanwhile, news of loss of life due to lightning is coming from Chhatarpur district of MP. It is said that lightning struck 12 workers in Barethi Tiraha village of Bhagwan police station area of ​​Chhatarpur district. In this, 2 people died while the condition of 7 is said to be critical.

According to the information received, 12 tribal labourers returning from Barethi Tiraha area after working stood under a tree due to heavy rain. During this time, lightning struck the tree in which 40-year-old Kashi Bai and her daughter 20-year-old Kavita died on the spot while 10 others were injured. The condition of 7 of them remains critical. After the incident, all were taken to the local health center from where 7 were referred to the district hospital.

SDM Prashant Agarwal said that all the victims of the accident had gone to weed the groundnut. Heavy rain started around 3 o’clock. All the workers stood under the Shaymara tree. During this time, lightning struck and all the workers were hit by it. Officials say that the government will give proper compensation to the deceased and the injured. Manik Adivasi, injured in the accident, said that suddenly lightning struck and everyone fell on the ground. No one was conscious. When we regained consciousness, we were in the hospital.
