The court found the accused Umend Kewat guilty of murdering four members of his family in a case registered in January this year. The court said in its verdict, “The culprit should be hanged by putting a rope around his neck until he dies.” The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Kewat.
After the completion of hearing in the case, the court had reserved the verdict on July 29. On Tuesday, the court pronounced its verdict. According to the prosecution, Kewat had strangled his wife Sukrita (32), two daughters Khushi (5), Lisa (3) and son Pawan (18 months) to death at their home in Hirri village under Masturi police station area of Bilaspur district on January 1.
