One gate of Kerwa Dam opened in Bhopal, 4 systems active in the eastern-northern part of the state

Due to cyclonic circulation and monsoon trough line in Madhya Pradesh, there may be heavy rain in 22 districts on Saturday. The Meteorological Department has also issued an alert of heavy rain in Sheopur and Shivpuri.

The 22 districts that are expected to receive heavy rains on Saturday include Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Sheopur, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Sagar, Damoh, Narsinghpur, Seoni, Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat, Anuppur, Mauganj and Satna.

The full tank level of Kerwa Dam is 1673 feet. Water is being released from one of the 8 automatic gates of the dam. There was no heavy rain in Sehore district, but water is continuously rising through the drains. On Friday, the water level of the dam reached close to the full reservoir level of 1673 feet. As the water pressure increased, the automatic gates of the dam opened and water started flowing out. This season, the gates of all the three dams of Bhopal, Bhadbhada, Kaliyasot and Kerwa, have been opened. The gates of Kolar Dam near Bhopal have also been opened.

Rain forecast in north-eastern part of MP

Senior scientist of IMD Bhopal, Dr. Divya E. Surendran said- Currently 3 cyclonic circulations and one monsoon trough line are active. Monsoon trough is passing through many districts of MP. Due to this, there may be rain in the northern and eastern parts on Saturday. Thunderstorms and light rain are expected in the remaining districts.

Two and a quarter inches of rain in Sidhi, water fell in 18 districts

On Friday, there was heavy rain in some and light rain in some 18 districts of the state including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur. Sidhi received the maximum rainfall of 41 mm i.e. 2.75 inches. Damoh and Malajkhand of Balaghat district received 4.5 inches of rain.

Nearly half an inch of water fell in Dhar, Khandwa and Rewa. Light rain was also recorded in Bhopal, Betul, Indore, Guna, Jabalpur, Khajuraho, Mandla, Ratlam, Sagar, Satna, Seoni and Umaria.
