Raipur: New technology a powerful step in crime control

Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao inaugurated city surveillance in Simga.

Every activity in the city will be closely monitored with 40 state-of-the-art CCTV cameras.

Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao on Friday launched the city surveillance system in Simga Nagar of Balodabazar-Bhatapara district. On this occasion, he visited the CCTV city surveillance room installed in the police station premises and took information about the surveillance system of the city.

Revenue Minister Tankram Verma, Collector Deepak Soni, Superintendent of Police Mati Bhavna Gupta, District President Daulat Ram Pal, District Member Chandraprakash Tondre and public representatives and a large number of city residents were present in the program.

In his address, Deputy Chief Minister Sao said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, the state government is making maximum use of modern technology for crime control and public safety. The start of city surveillance in Simga Nagar will prove to be a milestone in this direction. He said that Simga town is situated on the National Highway, where many industrial units are operating and people from different provinces keep coming and going. In such a situation, immediately after any criminal incident, identification and search of criminals will now become easier and faster with the help of CCTV network. He informed that 40 high quality cameras have been installed in the city, which are capable of working equally day and night and can clearly capture even the number plate of the vehicle. This will bring significant improvement in crime control, accident prevention and traffic management.

Revenue Minister Tankram Verma said that the city surveillance system will prove to be the “third eye” of the city. Now any incident can be monitored immediately and the police will be able to get concrete evidence to arrest the criminals. In the program, Collector Deepak Soni and Superintendent of Police Mati Bhavna Gupta also described this initiative as important for the security of the city. He said that the surveillance system will not only reduce crimes but will also increase security confidence among the people.

On this occasion, Additional Superintendent of Police Hemsagar Sidar, local public representatives, Nagar Panchayat officers and a large number of citizens were present. This initiative of City Surveillance is an important step towards establishing Simga as a technologically strong and safe city.
