DSP’s brother-in-law dies due to police beating.
A major case of police brutality has come to light in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. Balaghat DSP’s brother-in-law Udit Gayke died after being beaten by policemen in Piplani police station area. There was a stir in the police department after the incident. The deceased was brought to AIIMS Bhopal in critical condition, where he died during treatment.
After the incident, heavy police force was deployed in the AIIMS campus. The family members of the deceased alleged that the police had beaten Udit brutally in the police station also. At the same time, the police has claimed that Udit died due to heart attack. Considering the seriousness of the incident, both constables Santosh Bamania and Saurabh Arya were suspended with immediate effect.
DCP Vivek Singh gave information
DCP Zone-2 Vivek Singh said that, if it is clear in the postmortem report that the youth died due to injuries, then a case of murder will be registered against the policemen. To maintain transparency, we have formed a panel of doctors and videography of the entire post-mortem is also being done. The allegation of demands on the police will also be investigated.
Video of policemen beating Udit goes viral
DCP Zone-2 Vivek Singh said that if the post-mortem report confirms death due to injuries, a case of murder will be registered. There will be an impartial investigation into the entire matter. Yogesh Gawande, maternal uncle of deceased Udit Gayke, has made serious allegations against the police. He said that Udit was my only nephew, he was brought up with great love. He died due to police brutality. The culprits should be given death sentence. He also told that some videos have surfaced in which policemen are seen beating Udit.
