US gave a shock to Pakistan, will not give AIM-120 missile, claims rejected

US will not give missiles to Pakistan

The US on Friday denied media reports claiming that the US has approved the sale of advanced AIM-120 air-to-air missiles (AMRAAMs) to Pakistan. Pakistan had claimed that America would provide it with AIM-120 air-to-air missiles. However, now America has rejected this claim of Pakistan. America has called Pakistan propaganda false.

However, Pakistan had claimed to change the rules in the US defense deal and Pakistan got the green signal for the missile. Now the US War Department has rejected it. Pakistan had spread this rumor after the meeting of Pakistan Prime Minister and Army Chief with Trump. The US government has issued a statement denying this.

US rejected PAK’s claim

The US Embassy issued an official statement calling these reports false and clearly stated, no part of this contract amendment is related to the supply of new Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMs) to Pakistan.

The US War Department has released a list on September 30, 2025, in which some changes have been made in the old defense agreements for many countries, including Pakistan. This change is related to maintenance and supply of spare parts.

no missiles are being delivered

The US administration has clarified that no new Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) is being given to Pakistan. This contract is only for the maintenance and repair of already existing missile systems, not for increasing Pakistan’s military capability.

In the last few days, various media outlets and regional publications had reported that Pakistan is going to get AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles from the US. Which will increase the capabilities of its F-16 fleet. Regional air balance may be affected. These reports had emphasized on increasing the strength of Pakistan on behalf of America amidst improvement in bilateral relations.

However, the original contract with American defense company Raytheon mentioned the upgrade and manufacturing of missiles. As per the contract, AIM-120C8 and AIM-120D3 missiles are being manufactured under Lot 37 of AMRAAM.

What was being claimed in the reports?

Earlier reports were claiming that Pakistan is likely to get AIM-120 from America. It was claimed in these reports that Pakistan was also included among the 35 buyers of these missiles in an arms contract notified by the US Defense Department. However, these claims have now been refuted.
