Surrendered Maoists hold the key to progress

Government is benefiting from innovative rehabilitation policy to connect with the mainstream of society.

Raipur,

32 surrendered Maoists of Bijapur district, who have left the path of Maoism and returned to the mainstream of society, have now taken an important step towards development and self-employment. All of them have successfully completed one month’s special training in poultry and goat rearing at the Regional Self-Employment Training Institute located in Jagdalpur.

Through this training, former Naxalites not only learned scientific methods of animal husbandry but also learned the nuances of becoming a successful entrepreneur. During one month’s intensive training, the surrendered Maoists were given every important information related to poultry and goat rearing. Here they received training on selection of improved breeds, knowledge of fodder management and balanced diet, vaccination, identification and treatment of diseases along with strategies to take advantage of government schemes, obtain loans and market their products.

A surrendered Maoist who had undergone training expressed happiness that life in the jungle was very difficult and empty. The rehabilitation policy that has been made on the initiative of the Chief Minister of the state Shri Vishnudev Sai to connect the surrendered Maoists with the mainstream of the society is an innovative effort. So that now we can earn a stable and respectable living for the family by working with our hands. This step of the government has given us a lot of courage.
