With the aim of ensuring quality education in the state, the School Education Department has started social audit of schools under the Chief Minister Education Quality Campaign. This audit is being organized in all 58 thousand schools of the state from 6 to 8 October 2025.
School Education Minister Gajendra Yadav has directed all the district and development block education officers of the state that social audit is not just a formal process, but it is an opportunity to know the actual status of children’s education and improve it. He said that every officer and teacher should ensure that community participation is active and immediate corrective action is taken based on the findings of the audit. Education Minister Yadav also said that this campaign will help the state in improving the quality of education. It is a direct example of the government’s commitment, in which participation of every section of the society is expected.
Focus on implementation of National Education Policy 2020
The objective of this campaign is to improve the learning achievements of children by quickly implementing the components of the National Education Policy 2020 in schools. Efforts are being made to have a concrete impact on the quality of education by ensuring community participation through social audit.
Consent received from Gram Sabha, social audit teams formed
The proposal to organize social audit in schools was unanimously approved in the Gram Sabha held on 2 October 2025. After this, social audit teams have been formed for each school, which include a teacher from the nearby school as the team leader and members interested in education from the local community.
Role of State Council of Educational Research and Training
The work of preparing questionnaires and providing training for social audit at primary, upper primary and higher secondary levels has been done by the State Council of Educational Research and Training. Samagra Shiksha is acting as the nodal agency of this programme.
Evaluation of schools on 20 key questions
During the social audit, information is being collected from the community on a total of 20 questions. It includes aspects like children’s reading ability, mathematical skills, teachers’ attendance, library usage, examination results, use of local language. Along with this, the condition of the schools will be analyzed on the basis of feedback received from the community.
Tradition of community participation and invitation banquet
Schools have fixed the date of social audit and invited community members to attend. In particular, if a family wishes to organize an “invitation feast” in memory of their relative, it can also be done on this day. Community attendance and number of banquets organized will also be factored into the assessment while reviewing the performance of the districts.
Online Entry and Review Process
After the audit, signatures of the community will be taken on the filled forms and they will be submitted at the block level, where online entry will be done. A list of weak performing schools will be prepared by analyzing the data received through Vidya Samiksha Kendra. These schools will be inspected by public representatives and departmental officials so that necessary corrective steps can be taken.
Community cooperation in improvement works
In the areas where improvement is found during the social audit, a list of interested participants from the community will be made and improvement work will be started with their cooperation. Apart from this, special training programs will also be conducted to enhance the capacity of teachers and improve board examination results.
Report will be available by October 20
Based on the social audit report, a list of weakly performing schools will be provided to the districts by 20 October 2025. On the basis of this, schools will be allotted to the concerned authorities so that they can ensure corrective action.
This social audit, being conducted under the Chief Minister Education Quality Campaign, is not only an important step towards increasing the quality of education, but it also provides an opportunity to the community to participate in the progress of the schools.
