The wait is over, Arvind Kejriwal gets government bungalow, Center allotted home in Lodhi Estate


Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who have been waiting for the bungalow for a long time, have been allotted the government bungalow. Nearly a year after resigning from the post of Chief Minister and leaving the government bungalow in Civil Lines, Kejriwal has finally been allotted a type-VII bungalow in Lodhi Estate by the central government.

Being the convenor of the national party, Kejriwal is entitled to the government residence allotted by the government in Delhi. The Aam Aadmi Party leader had moved the Delhi High Court in view of the delay in allocation from the Directorate of the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry. The government had informed on 25 September before the court that Kejriwal would be allotted a bungalow within the next 10 days.

It is reported from the sources that now the government has allotted 95, Lodhi Estate to Arvind Kejriwal on Monday. This bungalow is the second largest category of government housing because of the type-VII category.

After resigning as the Chief Minister in September shortly before the election in Delhi last year, Kejriwal vacated 6, Flagstaff Road Bungalow a few days later. This is the bungalow that had been his official residence for most of the time of his Chief Minister’s tenure. He was living in a government bungalow allotted to Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal after leaving the post.

6, Bungalow on Flag Staff Road was in a lot of headlines during the Delhi election. The Bharatiya Janata Party had targeted fiercely due to alleged irregularities during the renovation of this bungalow and called it “Sheesh Mahal”.
