New Delhi
On the first day of the first Test match being played between India and West Indies, Team India’s star bowler Jasprit Bumrah made a special achievement. Bumrah has completed his 50 wickets on the Indian land in the World Test Championship (WTC). He has become India’s first fast bowler to do so. Before him, only Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja had done this feat, but both are spinners.
West Indies’ first innings wreak havoc
West Indies captain Roston Chase won the toss and decided to bat first, but the Indian bowlers did not give the visiting team any chance. The Caribbean batsmen flopped in front of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj’s sharp bowling and were reduced to just 162 runs in the first innings.
Bumrah took 3 wickets with his deadly bowling. He gave India’s initial success by dismissing opener John Campbell. He then bowled Justin Greaves and Johann Leyni on a brilliant yorker.
Bumrah completed 50 wickets at the home ground at the World Test Championship with this performance. He became the first Indian fast bowler to achieve this feat.
Before Bumrah, Ashwin (149 wickets) and Jadeja (94 wickets) had completed 50 wickets in the WTC at home before Bumrah. But both are spinners. In such a situation, Bumrah’s name has been recorded in history.
50 wickets completed in 13 matches
Jasprit Bumrah has so far played 13 Tests in India at the World Test Championship. During this, he took 50 wickets. His best performance at his home ground has been 6 wickets for 45 runs. Bumrah’s yorker balls are not considered to break and when he comes in rhythm, no batsman in the world consider it easy to stand in front of him.
More than 200 wickets in career
Jasprit Bumrah made his Test debut in the year 2018. Since then, he has proved the backbone of Indian invasion with his fitness and sharp bowling. Bumrah has taken 222 wickets in 49 Tests played so far. In this, 15 times he has taken five wickets in the innings.
This record of Bumrah proves that he is not only on foreign pitches, but also the bowlers who win matches for Team India under Indian conditions.
