Bhopal Health Department is on alert mode after the death of 6 children due to kidney failure in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh. Both cuff syrup Coldrif and Nextro-DS (Nextro-DS) have been banned from selling Kapha syrup. In a conversation with TV9 Bharatvarsha, District Chief Medical Officer Dr. Manish Sharma said- Both phlegm syrup will be banned in Bhopal. It is not supplied at health centers. An investigation campaign will be conducted at private medical stores. The ICMR team will investigate.

There is a danger of mysterious disease in Parasia and surrounding areas of Chhindwara district. In the last 23 days, 6 innocent children have died, while more than a dozen children are admitted in hospitals. The cause of deaths is said to be the kidney failure of children. It is suspected that the children who were given phlegm syrup on the complaint of cold and cough and fever, their kidney slowly failed.

The first case came to light on 7 September when 5 -year -old Adnan Khan was rushed to the hospital after complaints of high fever and vomiting. When the condition deteriorated, he was referred to Nagpur, where doctors told that both kidney had failed. After this, new cases continued to come up and so far 6 children have died. The administration took samples of water and mice in the initial investigation, but the report came negative. Now doubt is on medicines.

Coldrif and Nextro-DS Ban on Syrup

Collector Shilendra Singh has immediately banned Coldrif and Nextro-DS syrup on the advice of doctors and has instructed the medical stores to provide only plane syrup to the children. Questions are also being raised about the supply of contaminated water in Parasia region. Local people are alleging that yellow and dirty water is coming from the tap, which was complained many times but no action was taken.

In view of the seriousness of the case, ICMR is being investigated from the lab of Pune. At the same time, MLA Sohan Valmik has written a letter to the Ministry of Health and warned of agitation if action is not taken.

Administration advisory

  • Do not give medicines to children without prescription.
  • In case of cold cough or fever, immediately take it to the government hospital.
  • Do not get treatment with doctors.
  • Keep an eye on the children every 6 hours on the urine, see the doctor immediately when stopped.
  • Do not delay when vomiting, lethargy or fever remains for more than two days.

Pain of the families of the deceased children

A woman named Afreen Parveen said- My son Adnan had a mild fever. Gradually the condition deteriorated and in Nagpur, doctors told that both the kidneys have deteriorated. Even after getting treatment, he could not escape. Yasin Khan said- After fever, the son’s urine stopped coming. Nagpur was referred from the district hospital. There were three dialysis but finally he passed away. Two and a half to three lakh rupees were spent in treatment. Ward residents said- Yellow and dirty water comes in the supply of city council. This can be the cause of disease. Despite complaining, no action was taken.

BMO Parasia Ankit Sahalam said- Samples of children have been sent to Pune Lab. Only after the report comes, the real cause behind the deaths will be clear. Our teams are constantly surveying. Shilendra Singh, Collector Chhindwara said- The subject of kidney infection and death of children is very serious. The team of ICMR will investigate. At present, two syrup has been banned and appeals to the parents not to panic, see the doctor immediately.

‘Cuff syrup is baseless’

Deputy CM and Health Minister Rajendra Shukla said- The entire health department is keeping an eye on it. The situation is under control. The reports of the children who have died have been sent to ICMR and Nagpur. As soon as the report comes, you will know what is the reason behind the death of children. But the entire staff is active about this kind of accident. It is not possible to say anything until his report comes. He said that the matter of Kapha syrup is completely baseless. These deaths have not occurred due to phlegm syrup. This is certain.
