Mr. Sodi Hunga, a resident of Gram Panchayat Elmagunda, who was once associated with Naxal activities, was finally fulfilled by the years old pucca house. In the financial year 2024-25, his name was selected under “Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin” (Special Project Need Nellanar Yojana) based on the list received from the Home Department. Under the guidance of Collector Bijapur, his residence was approved after the target allocation in the housing plus app survey and priority order.
Mr. Hunga, who was in the past, who was involved in Naxalite activities, continued to live with insecurity and fear. Expressing confidence in the administration, he surrendered, after which he got a pucca house under the incentive amount and now under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Elmagunda Gram Panchayat is inaccessible and sensitive area, which is located about 60 km from the district headquarters. Despite limited transport facilities and difficult situations, Mr. Hunga completed his house construction work with the help of family.
With the attainment of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Mr. Sodi Hunga became emotional and said that earlier life was always in danger in Naxal activities, but today he and his family have got a safe and respectable life due to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. For this, he expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai and the administration.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Rural and Need Nella Nar Yojana is not only providing residential facilities, but is also ensuring their rehabilitation by linking the surrendered Naxalites with the mainstream of the society. He said that stories of success of beneficiaries like Mr. Sodi Hunga are proof that the plans are working effectively in the right direction.
