4 thousand new women of Maoist affected area of Bastar division have been added to the Mahtari Vandan Yojana being run by the Government of Chhattisgarh for women. These women will get the first installment in the month of October. So far 19 installments have been released under the scheme.
The name of 4,000 new women has been included in Mahtari Vandan, the main scheme of women empowerment of the state government. They will start getting benefits from October. These beneficiaries belong to 53 villages of 53 camps run in the five districts of Kanker, Narayanpur, Sukma, Bijapur and Dantewada in the five districts of Bastar division. They will start getting 20th installment benefits in October.
At present, more than 69 lakh women of the state are benefiting from one thousand rupees every month. The state government had decided on July 23 to include women deprived of Mahtari Vandan in five districts of Bastar division, which is growing rapidly from Maoist violence.
The process of application by the Women and Child Development Department was started from August 15, which lasted till 31 August. Around nine thousand applications were received to the department through Anganwadi centers. After investigation, about four thousand women have been found eligible. Officials say that the beneficiaries whose applications are incomplete in the absence of documents, will be provided and benefited. The scheme, launched from 1 March 2024, aims to make married and eligible women above 21 years of age financially and self -reliant.
19 installments have been released
19 installments of Mahtari Vandan Yojana have been released. In September, an amount of Rs 1000-1000 was transferred to the accounts of 69,15,994 women. The Women and Child Development Department has appealed to the beneficiary women to update the Aadhaar card, so that there is no problem in payment of the amount. It is mandatory to update the Aadhaar card every 10 years. Payment of many women has been canceled due to the inactivity.
Possibility of opening the portal again in November
Millions of women are still deprived of the scheme in the state, who are waiting for the registration portal to open again. These women had missed on applying in the registration portal for the first time. Even some women are not getting benefits, who have become eligible for the scheme in one and a half years.
The talk of reopening on behalf of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai and Women Child and Development Minister Laxmi Rajwade has been revealed many times. It is expected that it can be publicly announced in November on the occasion of State Foundation Day. In good governance Tihar, the department received 1.65 lakh applications related to the Mahtari Vandan Yojana.
The process of taking applications from 511 villages of 53 camps operated in Nayed Nella Nella area has been completed. About four thousand women have been found eligible, who will get benefits from October. Efforts are being made to benefit the remaining applications by fulfilling them.
