Controversy over the death of singer Zubeen Garg is increasing. Death on 19 September 2025 died in Singapore, the cause of his death is said to be the sea drowning in the official report. But his family fears a conspiracy behind death. The Zubeen family has filed an online complaint in the Assam Criminal Investigation Department (CID). This complaint has been lodged by Garima Saikia Garg, his sister -in -law Pami Barathakur and his uncle Manoj Borthakur.
At the time of the incident, he went to Singapore for the North East India Festival, where he was to perform on 20 September. His wife Garima Saikia said that it was not a scuba diving accident, but while swimming with friends. Singer’s family has accused his manager Siddharth Sharma and North East Festival organizer Shyamakunu Mahant of negligence in Singapore. A complaint has been lodged against him. The family has demanded a detailed investigation in this matter. According to reports, the officials have filed a complaint and the CID will start its investigation soon.

NDTV quoted sources as saying that the Special Team (SIT), who is investigating Zubeen’s death, has issued summons to the festival organizer and manager of Garg to join the investigation by 6 October. A dozen other people from Assam, who were present on the mini ship with Garg, have also been issued summons to join the investigation.
On this matter, the Assam Chief Minister said, “We have given him time till 6 October. Samanas have been sent through the Indian Embassy in Singapore. Lookout notices have already been issued against Siddharth Sarma and Shyamakanu Mahant through Interpol to prevent them from escaping to another country.”
