Ukraine President Volodimir Jailonsky has said that he will leave the presidential post after the war with Russia and will not participate in the next presidential election. He told in an interview that his goal is to end the war. As soon as this happens, he wants to withdraw from the post. Jailonsky said that he took over the presidency to serve the country and now it is time to retreat.
Jailonsky said. ‘I have served my country in the most difficult time of history and now I am leaving the post.’ According to a recent survey, former Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine-in-Chief Jalujani is getting more support than Jailnsky. However, there is a possibility of getting more votes in the election. 35% of the people involved in the survey have supported Jalujani and 25% of the people have supported Jailonski.
Jailonsky’s term is over
The presidential election in Ukraine was held in 2019. Jailonski’s term ended on 20 May 2024. However, elections could not be held due to war. The tenure of the presidential term was extended due to the implementation of martial law. According to Article 108 of the Ukrainian Constitution, the President holds office until he assumes a new presidential post.
According to media reports, the Ukraine government is preparing for the presidential election, but the election date is not yet decided. This statement comes at a time when the war between Russia-Ukraine continues. This step can be a major change in Ukraine politics.
