US Energy Minister Chris Wright
The US recently imposed an additional 50 percent tariff on India. This tariff was imposed due to buying oil from Russia. After this, now there is a statement of the US minister in which he called India a great ally of America. He also said that we do not want to punish India. US Energy Minister Chris Wright said on Wednesday that his country wants to expand energy cooperation with its magnificent ally India, including natural gas, coal, nuclear power and clean fuel of cooking.
Wright praised India and said, “When I came to this position, most of my time has spent working with India, which is the world’s largest democracy, a great ally of America, a fast growing economy.” The US minister said, I am a big fan of India. We love India. We expect more energy trade and more interaction with India.
What did you say about energy cooperation?
Wright addressed a press conference held at the New York Foreign Press Center. US Minister was replying to Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal’s comment that India expects to increase its trade on energy production with Washington in the coming years and America’s share in India’s energy security goals is important.
America has imposed 25 percent of additional tariffs on India for purchasing oil from Russia. Right was also questioned about this. He was asked how to see cooperation between India and America in the field of energy. He said that the biggest passion of US President Donald Trump is world peace.
What did India say to buy oil from Russia
Wright said that we do not want to punish India. You can buy oil from every country in the world, just do not buy oil from Russia. This is our attitude. America has oil to sell and all others also have. He further said, there are many oil exporters in the world. India does not need to buy oil from Russia. India buys oil from Russia because it is cheaper. Nobody wants to buy oil from Russia. They have to sell it at discount.
