Towards Empowerment: Awareness seminar’s Salem English School, Raipur

“Awareness seminar” was organized at Salem English School, Moti Tiger, Raipur today under the aegis of Church of North India, Chhattisgarh Diocese. This program proved to be a historical initiative to encourage education, opportunity and self -reliance in society. The main objective of this seminar was to inform the minority communities about the welfare and educational schemes run by the central government and to inspire children and youth towards a bright future. “The future of children will be safe only by education and self -reliance. The schemes will be successful only when we take advantage of them on time.”

Empowerment resolution
A large number of students, parents and community members participated enthusiastically in the program. Everyone, considering education as the biggest weapon of life, resolved to take advantage of these schemes.

On this occasion, Mr. Albert Kujur and Mrs. Shalini Toppo, who were invited as guest speakers, gave information about various government schemes in detail. In particular, he highlighted the sub-schemes of the PM-Vikas (Principal of the Prime Minister’s Heritage) Scheme-Learn and Earn, New Roshni, New Manzil, Ustad and our heritage. Speakers said that these schemes not only provide skill development and employment opportunities but also give new energy to India’s traditional arts and crafts. “Poverty should not be a hindrance in the path of education. The government has shown the way, now we have to go ahead and take advantage of it.”

New dimensions of education from scholarships
Pre-matric and post-matric scholarship plans were also discussed in detail in the program.
Pre-matric scholarship for class 9th and 10th- up to ₹ 5,000/-.
Post-matric scholarship for graduate and postgraduate students- up to ₹ 7,000/-.
Assistance up to ₹ 10,000/- for business courses.

This message was extremely encouraging for both children and parents. Speakers said that “Poverty should not be a hindrance in the path of education. The government has shown the way, now we have to go ahead and take advantage of it.”

Dignified presence of organizers
CNI Diocese’s Bishop, The Right Reve in the program. The presence of Dr. Sushma Kumar and Diocese Secretary Mr. Nitin Lawrence gave special importance to the program. His inspiring ideas brought confidence and self -confidence within the gathering present.

Principal in charge of Salem School, Mrs. Ruka Lawrence, while motivating the students from the stage said –
“Today’s event is not just a seminar, but a movement. If our children will be educated, self -sufficient, only then family, society and nation will be strong. We have to take advantage of these schemes and bring our children to new heights.”
“Our goal is to read, learn and illuminate the society with their talent. This seminar is a strong step in the same direction.”

Future direction
The organizers announced that such seminars would be organized continuously so that the minority community can become aware and get maximum benefits from education and government schemes.
