‘Mahakal Sena’ in Ujjain against Ravana Dahan, posters put up from place to place; This appeal was made to Brahmins

Hindu organizations opposed Ravana combustion

Dussehra, a symbol of the victory of good over evil, Dussehra will be celebrated with great pomp this time on 2 October. During this time, the effigy of Ravana will also be burnt, but in the religious city of Ujjain, Mahakal Army and All India Youth Brahmin Samaj have put up posters across the city opposing Ravana combustion. Along with that, an appeal has also been made to the Brahmins not to participate in the programs of Ravana Dahan. It has also been said that there is no mention of Ravana combustion anywhere in history or Ramayana.

Pandit Mahesh Sharma, head of All India Brahmin Samaj and Mahakal Seva, said that during the meeting, we have protested against burning the effigy of Ravana. For the last 1 year, our demand is that now we should stop burning the effigy of Ravana. There is no mention of Ravana combustion in any book of Ramayana and history. Ravana was a devotee as a devotee of Lord Shiva and he had killed mother Sita to find his liberation path due to being a trikaldarshi. At the same time, he took such a step even after his sister Shurpanakha’s nose, ears were cut. But at present, the punishment for which the effigy of Ravana is burnt is now even more serious crimes. Now instead of Ravana, effigies of such people should be burnt.

Answer to questions sought in poster

The All India Brahmin Samaj and Mahakal Army have asked this question by putting posters at many places across the city, why should the effigy of Ravana be burnt. Ravana kidnapped mother Sita but never tortured. On the request of Ravana Ram Ji, the famous Rameshwar had reached to establish Jyotirlinga. Why insult them by burning effigies? Ravana accepted the challenge of atrocities with his sister and attained salvation, so what was wrong with this? Laxman was a Kshatriya, he also Shurpanakha who cut the nose and ears of a Brahmin girl, was it appropriate? Why is there no punishment to that Rajak (washer) when Sita ji is forced to doubt her character by raising her finger on Sita ji and again when Sita ji is forced to exile?

Letter was written to CM

Pandit Mahesh Sharma, head of All India Brahmin Samaj, wrote a letter to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav last year demanding that the effigy of Ravana is being burnt from Dwapar Yuga. But now Ravana’s effigy burning should be stopped, because it not only insults Brahmins, but in this Kali Yuga there are people who raped and kill them. Now instead of Ravana, the effigy of such people should be burnt.
