In Madhya Pradesh, due to direct fertilizer to cooperative societies, there was increased disturbances and black marketing

In Madhya Pradesh, complaints of shortage of fertilizer are coming out from all sides. The government claims that fertilizer is sufficient. There may be a delay in coming some places but there is no shortage. In the last kharif season, 33 lakh tonnes of manure was consumed and this time 30 lakh tonnes of manure has been distributed to the farmers till the first week of September 2025.

The order of fertilizer continues, so there is no crisis but the reality is beyond this. There is a shortage of fertilizer, only then a line is being launched outside the shops. If the shop had to close the shop to handle the law, then the police is having sticks. Large departments like agriculture and cooperatives are also unable to handle fertilizer management properly.

There is no district from where there is no information about lack of fertilizer

This time in Madhya Pradesh, the area of Mecca increased 1.25 lakh hectare, this is correct, so the consumption also increased. The Government of India approved an allocation of 41.38 lakh tonnes for Kharif 2025 i.e. 7.56 lakh tonnes more than last year. Even after this, there is no such district from where information about shortage of fertilizer has not been revealed.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan was also siege in Satna, but the officials are not ready to believe that there is a shortage of fertilizer. This is the reason that even after repeated meetings regarding the fertilizer crisis of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, there is no significant improvement in the situation.

Properly assessment of consumption

Actually, the first major reason for the fertilizer crisis is failure to estimate the demand. Officials send a proposal of eight-ten percent more fertilizer to the Government of India on the basis of last year. The second reason is not to recover the distribution system. Earlier, fertilizer lived in the warehouse of the State Cooperative Marketing Association (Markfed).

From here, primary agricultural credit cooperative society was given in a single lock. In the name of advance storage, manure started directly to committees, since then the system deteriorated. In this, big farmers already carry manure but remain due to lack of storage system. Due to the pressure in the area of the influential person from above, the officers first deliver the fertilizer.

The major reason for the flaw crisis of the system

Vijay Tiwari, former president of Bhopal District Cooperative Central Bank, says that the major reason for the fertilizer crisis is the flaw of the system. Storage should be done when the off season remains. For fertilizer, committees have to deposit cash amount, but many committees are not able to give the amount due to lack of economic condition. Officers have been made administrators, whose committee is not interested in running.

Cooperative societies spoiled the situation

The gardener situation of cooperative societies is not hidden from anyone. Most committees are in loss. Markfed has to take about seven hundred crore rupees from district banks, which are not able to give committees. Many defaulters have been done and they are not getting fertilizer. As a result, the members of the committee did not get manure.

When the farmers created a ruckus, the government made a system of paying manure in cash, but the small farmers became troublesome because they take the fertilizer and seeds on the borrowing. Another major reason is the absence of the elected governing board. If the elected public representatives live, then they understand the farmers and get some amount deposited, but there have been no elections here for 12-13 years. All committees are officers administrators, who have no direct connection with farmers.

Online advance booking system claims air-air

Markfed had claimed that on the season, farmers would not have to face the shortage of fertilizer, for this an online advance booking system would be created. The first advantage of this will be that the consumption of manure will be estimated and second that the farmer will not have to bother but it could not get down on the ground.

Former Agriculture Director Dr. GS Kaushal says that the need for fertilizer should also be assessed. Without knowing which element is lacking in the land, manure is being used, which is harmful for the fertility of the land, the quality of yield is also being affected.
