President Emmanuel Macron’s discrimination and racism with Muslims in France has reached a worrying level. This has been revealed in a new survey. According to the latest survey, 82 percent of Muslims believe that hatred against them has become common in the country. Whereas 81 percent say that this hatred has increased in the last decade.
This is the situation when about 50 to 60 lakh Muslims live in France, which is the second largest religious group in the country. But compared to last year, an increase of 75 percent has been recorded in anti-Muslim incidents in the early 2025 (January to May). The survey was conducted by the polling agency named IFOP on 1,000 French Muslims and was published by the recently made Observatory of Desirement Against Muslims.
Two-thirds Muslims victims of discrimination
The survey shows that in the last five years, about 66 percent of Muslims have suffered racist behavior. This rate is more than the common population (20 per cent) of France and more than people (18 per cent) of other religions. In women wearing hijab, this figure reaches 75 percent. 76 per cent of the youth below 25 years of age suffered discrimination. It is 81 percent of Muslims with strong pronounced Muslims and 84 percent among Muslims of African origin.
Most difficulties in job, house and police investigation
One of the two Muslims admitted that he faced a job search (51 per cent) and discrimination between police investigation (51 per cent). 46 percent said that he was unfair to him while finding the house. Even discrimination in healthcare, schools and government departments is common. 36 percent suffered discrimination against administrative officials. 29 percent complained to health workers. 38 percent accused teachers of discrimination.
An atmosphere of fear and insecurity
According to the survey, half Muslims (51 percent) live in fear of attack due to their religious identity. This fear reaches 66 percent in women wearing hijab. The picture about the future is also worrying. In the survey, 75 percent of the Muslims admitted that hatred would increase further. 64 percent are feared to ban religious freedom. 81 percent of women wearing hijab believe that there will be more strict restrictions on them.
